Explore our expert instruments, learn about our cultural and antique instrument exhibit, rent confidently, restore what matters, connect with trusted teachers, and experience musician-to-musician service.
Exhibit of Strings: History, Culture & Live Sound
Located in the heart of St. George’s Art District, our Stringed Instrument Exhibit is an evolving experience featuring rare violins and cellos, some pieces dating back to the 1600s. Alongside these heirlooms are global bowed instruments like the Erhu, Nyckelharpa, Morin khuur, and others — bridging cultures through craftsmanship and sound. The Violin Gallery is so much more than a specialized music shop, it is where music becomes art. Visit this mini-museum for an entirely unforgettable experience.
🎻 Violin Gallery Products and Services Include:
🪵 Quality Instruments—Handpicked by Musicians We specialize exclusively in high-quality stringed instruments, carefully selected by luthier and violinist Chris Hobson. Whether you’re renting your first student violin or investing in a lifelong companion, each piece is chosen for its tonal beauty, craftsmanship, and ability to grow with the musician. From beginner to professional—this is where quality meets trust. You aren’t just buying an instrument, you’re investing in a legacy.
👨🏫 Education and Personal Guidance Choosing a violin, viola, or cello can be overwhelming—especially for first-time players or parents navigating it all for the first time. That’s why we offer in-depth support. Chris Hobson, our founder, has been playing for nearly 40 years and repairing instruments for over 15. As both a seasoned luthier and violinist with a background in teaching and performance, he provides hands-on, personalized guidance to help you find the right fit. Whether you’re just starting out or upgrading to a professional model, we make the process clear, encouraging, and stress-free. Not sure yet, that is okay. We allow musicians to take home the instrument to try it out.
💰 Flexible Financing for Every Musician We believe access to high-quality instruments should never be limited by budget. That’s why we offer 0% interest financing for up to 24 months—so you can bring home an instrument that inspires you now, while paying over time. Whether you’re upgrading, gifting, or starting fresh, our flexible plans make it easy to invest in your musical future.
🎒 Rentals That Respect the Journey Our rental program is simple, flexible, and always includes expert maintenance—because we believe your first instrument should inspire, not limit. We also offer a Rent-to-Purchase path, so families can confidently move from trial to ownership with instruments that are built for progress, not just practice.
🛠️ Repairs, Restorations & Honest Valuations Our in-house luthier provides expert repair services for both individuals and school programs—everything from soundpost adjustments to full rebuilds. Our restorations honor the stories behind heirlooms and antique instruments, bringing them back to life with precision and care. For valuations, we provide official documentation for insurance or personal use, using our in-house 10-point tonal quality matrix and decades of luthier expertise.
🎶 Supporting Teachers, Students & Southern Utah’s Music Ecosystem While we don’t officially offer lessons ourselves, many of our employees provide private lessons. We also proudly maintain a “Teacher’s Corner” — an evolving directory that connects students to trusted local string teachers. It’s our way of nurturing both student success and educator sustainability in Southern Utah. We also spotlight local orchestra and symphony opportunities to keep the musical spark alive.
🗽A Legacy of Service and Music Founded by U.S. Army veterans Chris and Jackie Hobson, The Violin Gallery was created with the belief that music has the power to connect, uplift, and heal. Chris has been playing for nearly 40 years and repairing instruments for over 15—offering hands-on expertise, personal guidance, and a deep understanding of stringed instruments for the local music community.
