Get to Know Us!

Welcome to the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm—where science meets adventure! Built right over one of the most significant fossil finds in the country, this natural history museum lets visitors step into a 200-million-year-old lakeside ecosystem. Operated by the non-profit DinosaurAH!torium Foundation, the museum’s mission is to research, preserve, and share the incredible prehistoric story hidden beneath Southern Utah’s red rock soil. Whether you're a curious kid or a lifelong learner, this is your ultimate Jurassic journey!

🦴 Museum Exhibits & Fossils
Come face-to-face with thousands of fossilized dinosaur tracks and get to know the creatures who left them behind. You'll see everything from giant Eubrontes tracks—likely made by Dilophosaurus—to the smaller, nimble prints of Grallator. In addition to tracks, the museum features fish fossils, plant impressions, sedimentary structures, and even skin and tail-drag marks. The exhibit hall is climate-controlled and fully accessible, offering a comfortable and engaging experience for all ages.

🔬 Fossil Prep Lab
Get a behind-the-scenes look at science in action! Our fossil preparation lab allows visitors to watch trained volunteers and staff prepare real fossils for research and display. It’s a rare opportunity to see paleontology in motion and learn how ancient bones and tracks are carefully preserved for future generations. If you’ve ever wanted to peek into a paleontologist’s day-to-day work, this is your chance.

🦕 Dino Park & Kid-Friendly Activities
We haven’t forgotten the little explorers! The Dino Park offers a perfect spot for outdoor play and picnicking among life-sized dino replicas. Inside, kids can dig for tracks in the sandbox, join the “Junior Paleontologist Scavenger Hunt,” or get hands-on in our activity area. It’s interactive, educational, and just plain fun—perfect for young dinosaur lovers!

🎓 Educational Tours & Add-On Activities
Plan an unforgettable field trip 200 million years in the making! Our guided educational tours are tailored to school groups and include engaging, age-appropriate learning activities. Add-on experiences like the Fossil Lab Tour (ideal for grades 5+) or the Track-Making Activity (for elementary students) take learning to the next level. Tours must be booked in advance and are available weekdays during school hours.

🖥️ Virtual Museum Experience
Can’t make it to the museum in person? No problem! Our online 360° virtual tour brings the fossil fun straight to your screen. Explore exhibits, read about the prehistoric animals, and dive into St. George’s ancient past—all from the comfort of your home.

🪨 2025 Substation Quarry Excavation
Big things are happening just across the street! In 2025, our team began excavating a new fossil-rich site made accessible thanks to support from the City of St. George. Over a thousand fossils were uncovered this spring, and work now shifts to cataloging and preparing them for exhibit. Want to help? Sign up to volunteer in our lab and be part of history in the making.

🙌 Get Involved: Volunteer & Memberships
Support science, education, and dino-discovery by becoming a volunteer or joining our Steward Program. Whether you’re cataloging fossils, assisting guests, or helping behind the scenes, you’ll make a real impact. Or consider a yearly membership—perfect for frequent visitors and families who just can’t get enough of the Jurassic life!

📅 Events, Camps & Community Programs
From fossil festivals to summer camps for kids, the Dinosaur Discovery Site is more than a museum—it’s a hub for community fun! Keep an eye on our calendar for exciting upcoming events, including hands-on workshops, lectures, and family-friendly dino days. We’re proud to be an anchor for Earth sciences in Southern Utah and love sharing that passion with our community.

📍 Plan Your Visit Today!
Located in the heart of St. George, this one-of-a-kind museum is a must-visit for families, school groups, and dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages. Don’t let the word “farm” fool you—it’s a state-of-the-art natural history museum packed with prehistoric wonders. Stop by and step into a world where dinosaurs once roamed.
