The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Based on Victor Hugo’s iconic novel and featuring songs from Disney’s beloved animated film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame brings to life the Academy Award-nominated score alongside brand-new songs by Menken and Schwartz.
The musical begins with the resounding bells of Notre Dame echoing throughout the famed cathedral in 15th-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who dreams of experiencing the world “Out There,” watches from above as the city celebrates the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his manipulative guardian, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, Quasimodo seizes the opportunity to escape for a day, joining the revelry in the streets—only to face harsh cruelty from the crowd. The exception is Esmeralda, a beautiful and free-spirited Romani woman who shows him kindness. But Quasimodo isn’t the only one drawn to her – the dashing Captain Phoebus and the vengeful Frollo are equally captivated. As their passions clash, Frollo launches a ruthless campaign to destroy the Romani people, leaving Quasimodo as the only hope to save them all.
With its sweeping score and powerful storytelling, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an unforgettable musical that will leave audiences captivated.
