Six months after graduating from High School, I started my law enforcement career as a Reserve Police Officer in Southern California. At 21 I became a full-time officer and I spent my career working in Orange, LA, and San Bernardino Counties. I left the world of law enforcement, or so I thought, in 2018 and moved with my wife to Southern Utah. In 2020 I began volunteering for a local sheriff’s department and the requests to continue my training career increased. Throughout my career, I worked as a Rangemaster, FTO and Use of Force Instructor. I would later add EVOC instructor to my resume and headed up my agency’s Perishable Skills Training for more than ten years. I was the lead tactical instructor for the Advanced Officer Training Division as well as the FTO Coordinator. I attended and graduated the POST Master Instructor Course and went on to earn my degree in Workforce Education. My final 7 years were spent as an investigator for our Civil Liabilities Division. Our division was responsible for all departmental use of force reviews and I was the lead investigator for officer-involved shootings. After investigating hundreds of shootings throughout my career and spending countless hours in state and federal court, I have learned and taught all aspects of use of force from the moment of contact to the trial process. It is this more than three decades of knowledge I attempt to share with my students. I am teaming up with my wife Elizabeth, who retired from the Department of Corrections as a lieutenant and is a certified rangemaster and NRA Instructor. Together we bring a unique background to the training arena in hopes of helping supporters of the 2nd Amendment throughout Southern Utah.
